Harrison Keyes a global publisher of print products wants to get into electronic publishing. The idea was originally spearheaded by Meg McGill who has recently left the company. The team leader Jan Peters must address the current state of the project in respect to the original planned project. The project has experienced issues internally as well as externally. For example the supplier Asia Digital who was contracted to transfer the books for Harrison Keyes has experienced a natural disaster. The flood wiped out the entire company. Harrison Keyes did not anticipate this happening or Asia Digital simply not being able to meet their deadlines. Harrison Keyes does not have any completed work to show as a result. And to escalate matters more, the marketing campaign proved to be a failure as well. The project is now being threatened to be dismantled due to poor planning and poor marketing.
Project Control Process
Control is the process of comparing actual performance against plan to identify deviations, evaluate possible alternative courses of actions, and take appropriate corrective action (Project Management, 2006). The project control process is made up of several steps. The first step setting a baseline plan identifies the elements that allow the team to measure the plan. The baseline plan uses cost and time as factors for measurement. The second step is measuring performance and progress. In this step the team identifies the quantitative and qualitative factors.
