CHAPTER I









INTRODUCTION


An airplane’s power plant and system is also considered as the heart and the soul of an aircraft, just like a human being. It is the part that makes an airplane fly in the sky. Without it, it wouldn’t play the role of an aircraft. In short, it will not fly. Hence, it will just be a big piece of metal staying on the ground doing nothing. Regular check-ups and maintenance of the power plant should be observed to avoid malfunctions that result to accidents.

The Wright brothers were remembered, because they were the ones who first invented a vehicle that flies with an engine that runs in its own power. Since then, the growth of aviation industry started. Back then; the engines of an aircraft were too big and heavy. Moreover, the power produced is merely enough to carry their weight on the aircraft. But as time passes by, man’s technology was constantly improving. It rose to a new level from time to time. Together with this, aircraft’s engines improved as well.
