The Perfect Bridge
Snowcapped mountains, sapphire skies, and rolling plains: the epitome of Colorado Springs. I first set foot onto Colorado College’s campus in seventh grade while on summer vacation with my family. It never dawned on me that I was perhaps glancing at the academic institution that would potentially serve later as one of the best foundations for my adult life. I stumbled across Colorado College again through sheer determination in my search to find a college that matched my interests. After copious amounts of research, I found something much more significant about a Colorado College education – it remains the perfect bridge to achieve my life goals, the perfect fit for my personality, and the perfect environment that will assist me in my pursuit of knowledge.
Traditional colleges may focus on attending up to eight classes per semester, but CC challenges conformity by organizing a different and perhaps better approach to learning – the block plan. The intense schedule of a three-and-a-half week class that meets three hours for five days a week has made the learning process at CC particularly attractive. A demanding and intimidating program upon first glance, once I identified the similarities in the block plan and my learning habits, CC shaped into the ideal college of my choice. My high school education and experience in volunteering in various facilities have developed my analytical and leadership skills to an extent; CC’s demanding program will push me further to help me develop a solid foundation for addressing issues that I will encounter in my future career in any industry, anywhere in the world.
The emphasis placed on interdisciplinary studies provides myself and others with the freedom to create a curriculum that not only allows for exploration and discovery, but a personally adapting academic major. I am particularly interested in pursuing a major in either History-Philosophy or Neuroscience. Given I can only...
