Since the beginning of time, or as it seems, abortion has been one of the most hackneyed, religiously and legally controversial topics around. More and more people are beginning to feel extremely passionate in their view of this matter whether it be pro-life or pro-choice. Simply stated, this situation will never seem to rest or stop undergoing constant scrutiny. Since the 1973 case of Roe VS. Wade, one of the first infamous trials regarding this matter, the laws regulating abortion have seemingly been set in stone.
Pro-life activists all over the globe protest to their state government legislatures in a desperate attempt to change the rules and make it illegal for woman to have the right to choose whether or not they can have their own baby. A decision that should be solely based upon the well-being of the mother, whether it be her emotional state or most importantly her physical health. No one should be able to make such a personal decision on behalf of someone else, none the less make it a universal law for every pregnant woman to not be able to have a choice.
Pro-Choice, however seems to make more realistic arguments. If abortion is ever made illegal, women who can not fathom having a child but unfortunately became pregnant would find other ways of getting rid of their child. There is no doubt that crooked doctors or back-alley butchers with no medical training would be willing to do abortions in unsanitary conditions that could lead to further and more dangerous health problems. “In 1972, the last year before abortion was legalized, 39 women died from illegal abortions” (Willke, 1). Sadly, with the number of abortions being done today that number will be drastically larger than it was 30 years ago.
Another grave danger to consider is that people who want to actually go through with an abortion are not capable of taking care of the child. When the child is born it could be subject to neglect and abuse since its existence was...
