ONION CELL
AIM:
To analyze onion skin cell with help of microscope.
HYPOTHESIS:
As known onion cells have rectangular shape. In this experiment this rectangular shape will be observed.
VARIABLE:
Independent:
Lenses-(160/-),(160/0,17)
Dependent:
Magnification
MATERIALS:
Microscope
Onion
Knife
Slide
Cover slide
Dropper
PROCEDURE:
1-Onion was cut into several pieces with a knife.
2-It was removed the thin,transparent membrane from the inner surface and put on the slide.The membrane was covered with a drop of water and cover slide.
3-It was put into the microscope and observed.
DATA:
160/- 160/0.7
CONCLUSION:
As expressed in the hypothesis part the rectangular shape of onion cell was observed. At the starting of the experiment I could not cut onion cell properly. But at the last time I was successful for cutting it. So I got a chance to observe rectangular shape of onion cell. Although water drops worked against to me, observing achieved for onion cell.
EVALUATION:
Shapes are learned in geometry course. But they seem like artificial things. But with this experiment I observed they are at the centre of the nature. Because from complex structure to small organisms(like onion cell) they have a particular shape.
