In the next year, I wan to begin going to college and start the new chapter of my life. In six months, I will be graduating high school and closing the doors to my childhood and opening the one to my adulthood. I want to finish high school with honors and at least in the top 15% of my class. These are all personal goals that I have set for myself to show that I can do it and that I have the ability to make it through college.
Once in college, I want to continue with keeping up with my grades as well as daily life activities. I want to major in mathematics and secondary education. I am determined to become a teacher and teach algebra or something in that area. I love math and I believe that I am good at it, so I know that I have the ability to teach other children this intriguing subject and have them comprehend and understand better.
I am applying for this scholarship because I think I have a passion for teaching the drive to become a teacher. I believe teaching is a profession that is very self-satisfying and enjoyable in many areas. I want to see the spark in the child’s eyes when they get the concept that I am teaching or to see the enthusiasm within them about the subject. I want to teach kids that math is not the enemy. Some students are scared of math and are nervous of it because of the fear of getting a wrong answer. I want to show them that it is okay to get the wrong answer; math is a process of learning from your mistakes. I am very passionate about teaching and I want to be in front of that classroom being able to do something that I love.
