Everyday you hear people talk about how racism is gone in the U.S. but in reality it has just been covered up. People still face all kinds of racism everyday no matter where in the world, work, school, store etc. Racism in the U.S. is everywhere and will never go away, even among people who have jobs that are suppose to protect us, to fortune 500 companies. Out of all the places racism could be it is still among our school system, and running through our internet. During the 2008 elections racism resurfaced among the common working person and political figures. After reading this essay you will understand why and how people face racism everyday no matter the race, religion, culture or background of a person..
As we all know racism in the United States is every where and will never go away. For instance, America’s workforce has dramatic levels of racism throughout the industry. One industry that was found to have the highest level of racial discrimination was the advertising industry. Findings reveal that racial discrimination is 38 percent worst in the advertising industry and blacks suffered in pay, hiring, promotion, and other areas through out the industry. African Americans face this everyday in the advertisement industry more than the overall U.S. labor market. The division between advertising and other U.S. industries is more than twice as bad now as it was 30 years ago. In order to close the gap on black-white employment the industry would have to triple the number of black mangers and professionals. Based on a national demographic study 9.6 percent of the advertising industry should be black but it stands at 5.3 percent in 2008. Then you have lots of companies that hire Hispanics because they are lead to believe that Hispanics will work for the lowest rate than Americans will especially if they are in the U.S. illegally.
