After reading a article “Earth before life”, there were a few concepts listed, to how earth was made and the beginning of evolution. “Chemical reactions and physical processes on the early earth created an environment that made life possible, and life, once it began, transformed the planet’s chemistry. Biological and geologic histories are inseparable.”
Earth was caused by particles of gases, rocks and dust. Particles of gases were drawn together and compressed, giving off a large amount of heat. After words earth cooled down, enough for water to vapor and formed liquid water. Rain fell for millions of years and covered and created, oceans and lakes. The Ocean contained nucleotides and amino acids. With it’s sun light the sun took a role in producing chemical reactions in the air that soon fallowed by land being formed, some land would sink back into other causing other portions to arise.
The main concepts of, earth before life, are the earth’s ability to sustain life. The earth itself is made up of the same elements that living organisms need. Oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur are the five basic elements of all life on earth and of these five, oxygen is the most abundant. Oxygen makes up almost 50 percent of the earth’s crust by weight, 42 percent of all vegetation, 85 percent of all sea water, 46 percent of igneous rocks, 47 percent of dry soil, and 65 percent of our bodies.
Oxygen has many critical roles. It is essential for oxidation and acts as a disinfectant, deodorizer, sanitizer and preserver. All of the functions of our bodies are regulated by oxygen. The ability to think, feel, move, eat, sleep and even talk all depends on the energy oxygen generates. Our brains need oxygen to process information and our bodies use it to metabolize food and to eliminate toxins and waste through oxidation. Oxygen also energizes cells so they can regenerate and it provides flexibility.
