There are a lot of people who have influenced my life in many different ways. I feel that I have been blessed with friends and family who love me and are there for me; I know that I am luckier than many to have that kind of love in my life, as many people I have met are not as fortunate. My mom and dad have always been there to support me in every way possible, as any great parent should. I’ve always been close to my Aunt Rhonda as well; she has taught me how to have a good time while still keeping my moral values intact. I shouldn’t leave out my best friend, Liz. She has been with me for every single hardship I have experienced since day one of high school and gives better advice than anyone else I know that is our age. Yes, these people have made a huge difference in my life, but I’m not going to write this essay about any of them.
Instead I am choosing to write about a person who has impacted my life a little differently. I have known my cheer coach since freshman year. She was my Honors Spanish I and II teacher. I cheered for her my first two years of high school and was even invited to cheer for both the football and basketball teams my sophomore year. This is virtually unheard of at Metamora; it is usually not allowed but a couple girls quit and Senora really needed someone to do it and I was more than happy to accept the invitation. When I didn’t make the squad the next year, I was devastated. I came back to class the day after try-outs and all of a sudden it was like her attitude towards me had taken a one hundred and eighty degree turn. I was upset with her for keeping me off the squad of course, but it just seemed like she was being extremely mean to me now that I wasn’t a cheerleader. I did not know how to handle it. She had never acted like that to me before and after a couple weeks of the rude comments and bad attitudes, I went to my guidance counselor and told them to take me out of her class for the next year.
