“I want that Dress”!
Have you ever done something you regret? Something that wakes you up in the middle of the night because you think about it over and over again like it just happened at that moment? I almost got arrested for shoplifting at Bells a little outlet center in Miami, Florida on May 28, 2008. My whole life seemed to flash before my eyes like I was in my death bed waiting for the nurse to unplug the machine. My two little sisters, Cassandra and Jimrah, my Mother and Father were looking around at me like “what the hell just happened”?
It all started the day I woke up in my colorful room. Looking out the window, I saw the birds and turtles in my back yard acting like it were theirs. Then I walked into my parents’ room and said, “Hey Dad! Can we go to the store and buy my graduation dress?” He replied, “Sure. Go call your mother and your sisters, so we can go.” About thirty minutes later, I screamed, “Come on we’re leaving whether you’re ready or not!” I was so excited; I shouted out the window, “I’m about to graduate!” We finally arrived at the store called Bells around 12:00 p.m. Cassandra and I started walking around the store looking at dresses. Then I said, “Oh my God look at that dress!”
“What dress?” Cassandra said. Then I said, “You don’t see that S***? It’s the sexy red dress with the silver diamonds around the neck. The one that looks like something a millionaire would be dressed in?” Cassandra said, “Oh my God the dress is $70! You must be out your freaking mind. You know Dad would not buy a dress for that much money!” Pissed off at her, I shouted, “Shut your fish face a.. up. I never said he had to buy it!” She said sarcastically, “So who’s going to buy this million dollar dress? You? Or maybe your secret fairy Godmother will buy it for you.” As I pushed her aside, I said, “Ha ha ha. That’s so funny I forgot to laugh.
