The ice storm can forecast by manned or automatic stations directly. But we also can use weather radars, Doppler or conventional to see the ice storm indirectly.


The effects on areas that experience this weather/phenomenon
The freezing rain and gaze ice from the ice storm will cover everything with heavy ice. The ice covered road would make walkers slip and fall. For the drivers, the ice covered road would cause lots of traffic problems. The weight of the ice would be really heaved. In a report says, “Just one quarter of an inch of ice accumulation can add about 500 pounds of weight per line span.” Plans, trees, power lines, and even houses may break down by the weight of ice. The falling trees may hit people or break down houses. The broken power lines would leave many people out of power for several days.

The precautions that the public needs to take in order to avoid or survive your event safely
The weather station should provide serious warning before the storm. The median should tell people how to prepare for the storm, and what should be avoid. The police, fire station, and hospital should be fully prepared for any emergency.
