Title and Introduction:
The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of non-pharmacological pain management techniques on lowering pain levels during invasive immunization procedures in toddlers. This study aims to look at the benefits of pain relief in toddlers by the use of non-phamacologic methods during invasive immunization procedures when compared to the use of analgesics or no pain relief interventions at all.
Problem and Hypothesis Statement:
What can you do to relieve pain besides give analgesics? In current times noninvasive techniques are becoming effective barriers in relieving pain instead of analgesics. Many nurses and health care providers are interested in these non-phamacologic methods because they don’t involve medications, therefore reducing risks that might harm the patient. Many of these risks from analgesics can be detrimental to the health of a toddler. Unfortunately, pain is classified as one of the most common uncomfortable stimuli experienced by children occurring as a result from invasive procedures. In children, pain can be associated with increased anxiety, avoidance, somatic symptoms and increased parental distress (Pediatrics, 2001). Because of these symptoms there is an increased need to treat pain effectively by the use of non-invasive pain relief techniques. Using non-pharmacological pain relief methods for hospitalized toddlers during invasive immunization procedures will decrease the number of pain indicators exhibited when compared with the number of pain indicators shown by toddlers receiving no pain relief interventions during immunization procedures.
Most toddlers that endure immunizations are going to experience pain. As discussed previously, there can be more benefits when relieving pain by the use of noninvasive techniques...
