Abortion has recently become one of the most controversial issues in the world. There are many reasons to give birth to the world. Still, with all of the blessings and joy birth brings, many people continue to see it as a way of punishment. There are two well- known court cases that deal with the issue of abortion: Roe v Wade in 1973 and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992. According to the Concerned Women for America (CWA), easy access to abortion kills innocent life (Williams, par.2). There are many other reasons that follow this. From the biblical aspect, the Holy Bible condemns “baby murder” as a capital crime (Bernay. par.3). Abortions can also sterilize a woman, which can potentially avert her from being able to give birth later on down the line in life. It is clear that the availability of legal abortion encourages women to abort (Currie, par.4).
Before Roe v. Wade, a court case from the year 1973, the validity of abortion basically rested with the legislatures of the states. Still, in 1973, the Supreme Court made it an issue of federal constitutional law by holding that abortion was a constitutional right (Schwenkler, par.5). From then on, whether abortion was legal or not depended on the Supreme Court's decisions as to how extensive the Roe right to abortion essentially was. Abortion is the deliberate murder of the weakest beings among us.
In the most recently past decades, abortion has been acknowledged as a primary human right by the highest court. There are many people who are avid followers of abortion; however, their reasons for this support do vary. I believe that those who support abortion cannot possibly understand our dignity as human beings who believe in and follow God. Only God should have the right to take a life simply because each life, young and old, has a purpose and a value. Both the bible and the Muslim book, the Koran, discourage abortion and “baby murder” among many other things (Bernay, par.3).
