In my current and in past positions I have developed many advanced skills in the area of local and wide area networking (LAN / WAN) technologies.

I began my IT career with the Navy as Windows NT server and system administrator on a network that serviced the entire NESEA/Webster Field location which consisted of approximately 2,500 users. The scope of this position was desktop support ranging from applications installation and troubleshooting, user and email account maintenance, server installations, backups and restores, and network cable and equipment installation.

Once I completed my Bachelors in Computer Science I took a position as a Computer Scientist at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Patuxent Naval Air Station’s distributed high performance computing center. The skills that I developed and advanced in this position included LAN and WAN network administration of a large Cisco network, Microsoft Windows server and client management, lab design and installation, audio and video distribution, conversion, and recording, conference room design and installation including video teleconferencing facilities, basic UNIX systems administration of both Sun and SGI based machines, fiber optic network and infrastructure design, and storage area network (SAN) design and administration. I was the lead network engineer and managed all of the network communications for the facility for all projects. Our SGI severs where used to distribute video over the network and over fiber optics to the Manned Flight Simulator facility that is used to train Navy and Marine pilots. Our center was named the largest classified research and development network on the east coast and was funded between three and four million dollars a year for upgrades and other additions.
