What I despise
I despise talking about problems that are already solved by civilized nations, but sometimes I don’t have choice. I am not going to write about a person or a place. I will not point out straightly what I don’t like. I will draw a picture of my people’s life and their problems. After you read this article, you will understand my feeling. I am going to talk about a country called Iran. I am pretty sure that by reading this essay, your knowledge and way of thinking about this country will change.
The present Iran is a geographical package which was wrapped by the British policy makers in 1920 for their own interests with a lifetime warranty of a few decades. The name ‘Iran’ was taken from the Persian poet Ferdosi’s book, and for the first time in the history of the region, ‘Iran’ was put on this new geographical package in 1935 by Reza Pahlavi. Before 1935, this region was called Qajar territories and was governed by federal system. This geographic package was composed of several nations with their own territories such as South Azerbaijani Turks, Persians, Kurds, Arabs, Lurs and Balouchies.
After 1935, Iran was introduced to the world as a Persian country. The largest nation of South Azerbaijani Turks, with its own territories and a current population of 36 million were either ignored or introduced as Persian. Persian chauvinism in the past 80 years has denied the existence of Azerbaijani Turks and other non-Persian nations. Persian chauvinism has methodically a system of forced assimilation on non-Persian nations since 1935. Over the years, any nation in Iran, which opposed the national discrimination and the forced assimilation, has been faced with numerous, massive genocides and cultural genocides by the ruling Persian chauvinism in order to preserve the integrity of the country.
