This image is a very interesting one which is shot in the natural wild. It was shot in England in some sort of forest/ secluded area. Obviously by the trees, shrubs and the small natural river in the background.

The photograph Redpool was created by using pigments and adding them to the surface of the rock. By doing this it draws the eyes of the audience directly to the main red area of this image.

The image was arranged in a quiet secluded and natural area. It was taken in a forest away from human civilization and its chaotic disturbances and was carefully arranged over time after collecting many pigments he arranged them in a small pool of water. In this image there are many kinds of natural things. In the Background there are many kinds of trees and they are all leafless. This tells the Audience that the image was taken in either winter or autumn. The next natural element is the small river. It starts from the top right of the image and flows to the bottom right. The river is half visible so its width is unclear. The left of the image is a slab of mud and rock covered in dead leafs and grass. Andy Goldsworthy decided to arrange his red pigments in this area to show the naturalness of the area he is. The image is also not entirely dark or very bright, I believe due to the natural lighting in the image the image was taken in the late afternoon or the very early morning. This is because the image’s lighting is not very bright and there are shadowing in some areas of the image.

Andy Goldsworthy I believe choose red pigments rather than any other is because he found that red is the most noticeable color to the human eye and when the audience first laid eyes on this image they would directly look at the red pool and there first expression is that the red pool does not belong in this natural green environment.
