Marijuana
Marijuana is a mind altering, mood changing, pain killing substance. The drug came from the hemp leaves of the Indian hemp plant. Hemp originated in central Asia and slowly spread to the world. “Mary - Jane” as some call it is used in many different ways, some for good and some for bad.
In some countries such as Asia marijuana is one of the oldest non-food crops grown. In most cases marijuana was considered a good thing. In Ancient China it is said that Shen Nung (a Chinese emperor) called marijuana ma-yo and told people to use it as a pain killer during operations. Marijuana was holy to India. Used before meditation and available to everyone. It was usually made into tea. The Romans had many uses for hemp, a roman physician even wrote a book on its use and cure for earaches and indigestion, the Romans also used hemp to make rope baskets, and as a good source of fiber.
Even though marijuana can be used for good it can also be used for many
good things it can also be used and abused. Because of its mind altering affects people become addicted. Marijuana is illegal in the U.S. for some good reasons. Studies show that teen drinking and smoking tobacco are only step one before they turn to marijuana. After drinking teen are more likely to grab a joint rather that a cigarette. Marijuana is now an expensive drug no longer used for the right reasons. NOW A DAYS people use and abuse the drug more often. Its pain-killing effects and the feeling of being free attract and hold people in. After becoming addicted heavy users develop a tolerance for the drug and need larger doses of the drug. Long term use of marijuana can effect thinking, emotions and feelings it can also lead to depression and feelings of anxiety.
Grass, Hemp, Bomb, whatever you want to call it. Marijuana isn’t all that bad.
