A Strange Love
Omar Jayden Barlow is the type of child to put a smile on your face when you think you’re mad at the world. He is my sunshine, my life, and the reason why I’m in school. Waking up to his smile and touch is more comfortable then a queen size bed. “I go bed” was the last time I was able to hear and feel is touch in person. My son is my life.
Waking up to a shocking call in the middle of the night was quite scary. “Quita come to the hospital quick”, said a shocking voice.
“Who Is this? Amiya?”
“No her mother she’s going into labor and she wants you here”. Rushing to the hospital with my mother trying to figure out why she wants me there was the emotional part of my ride. “Momma hurry up your driving to slow is an emergency and I’m scared hurry please,” is what I was shouting fiercely to my mother during this long ambitious drive. “We’re here now calm down for crying out loud, go inside and find what room number she’s in while I park the car”. Running inside the double doors the only thing that was on my mind was, is the baby okay? Did she lose it while going into labor? Is her boyfriend trying to take him away? Finally finding the front desk I asked for her room number and where it was. “219 go straight down then make the first right and a quick left and it would be on you left hand side”. ‘Thanks”, I said running down the hall.
Sitting in the hall because the doctors wouldn’t let me go inside my mom was holding me tightly so that I wouldn’t cry loudly. “It’s okay she’s fine don’t worry so much just calm down and relax” are the words of encouragement that my mom was trying to give me which wasn’t really working. “SHAY” yelled a voice that sounded familiar. “Amiya called me momma, Amiya called me”! “Go inside then hurry I’ll be in soon”.
