Is internet becoming substitution for printed newspapers these days?
More and more people are using online media to read news nowadays. And thus the newspapers are loosing their readers. Rupert Murdoch, Chief Executive of The News Corporations, Ltd, one of the largest and most powerful media companies in the world, talks about the relationship between printed media and internet and how the use of internet is increasing in order to read the news.
Why people choose internet rather than newspaper?
First of all, the internet is quicker at publishing the news. The online papers are continually updated, providing the readers with up-to-the minute news in business, government, technology, marketing and more. Moreover, the online paper complements a print subscription with enhanced links to background information and reports that just aren't available in print anywhere. And the news on internet cost practically nothing. It’s easy to access at your desk or home, or even from your mobile phone. The online readers have the control of content, according to Murdoch’s view. It gives the readers the choice and offers individuals, companies and private organizations the chance to produce and distribute the news. Especially amongst the young people which don’t want to and don’t like to being controlled over the media. They want to choose their own articles, express their own opinions. They don‘t like the news to be imposed to them.
Murdoch expects that in the future people will start their day with news website rather than a newspaper. And I personally agree, as I prefer go to the news website in the morning rather than bothering buying a newspaper from the newsagent.
