Gene Changes
In the last 100 years, the world of science has reached the zenith of its research. It is said that in the few years scientists will have deciphered the human genome. The human genome is the blueprint of our bodies and minds according to which we grow. To be able to change it would mean that we would be able to change our bodies to suit our needs.
The highest contributing factor to human deaths is disease. Genome engineering could mean the end of diseases. Imagine the potency of such a weapon in the arsenal of our doctors. If the immune system of our bodies could be changed so that it can resist the invasions of microbes, we would become invincible to diseases. Our genome is made up of millions and millions of DNA strands, each of which controls a different part of our body. Once the genome is deciphered it would mean that we would be able to change any part of our body we want for the better or worse. There are some people that choose to argue against this because they believe that the world would become over populated quite quickly. This too can be countered using genetics. Even the most primal of our instincts, like searching for food and shelter, mating, etc are encoded into our DNA. By morphing these and by morphing genes which control our endocrine glands, which secrete the hormones responsible for our emotions, we can control even this.
