A)
B.F. Skinner demonstrated that organisms tend to repeat those responses that are followed by favorable consequences. His theory is better known as operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is a form of learning in which responses come to be controlled by their consequences.
According to Albert Bandura’s theory of social learning the environment does determine behavior. However, behavior also determines the environment—which means people can act to alter their environment. Also, personal factors determine and are determined by both behavior and the environment.
Mary Ainsworth’s research suggests that attachment emerges out of a complex interplay between infant and mother. Studies show mothers who are sensitive and response to their children’s needs evoke more secure attachments than mother s who are relatively insensitive or inconsistent in their responding.
Diana Baumrind believed there were three prototypical parenting styles. Parents can either be permissive, authoritative, or an authoritarian.

B)
Skinner’s operant conditioning would be an ideal solution to a tantrum management. Positive reinforcement should be given when the child’s actions are acceptable and respectable. But when a tantrum arises the Smith-Garcias parents should take action with negative reinforcement. The child should be reprimanded and placed in some sort of reasonable punishment, such as time out.
If the child is having problems with sharing, the Smith-Garcias can exercise Bandura’s theory of social learning by placing the child around other children. The other children should have items desirable to the Smith-Garcia child. Sharing would have to become a condition to the child if it wishes to be happy.
