Although advice is something that can only be suggested, one always has the underline decision, to trust himself, or to listen to others. My advice would be given to the character that drives this play forward and keeps the story from losing its intensity, Rodrigo. Roderigo is driven by the blinded love for Desdemona, woman married to Othello that he will never get. My advice would be to Roderigo, at the beginning of the play, to stop and know that in society today most people are not going to help you if there isn’t anything in it for them. In the beginning of the play Iago asks Roderigo to sell his land for money and in return he will help get Desdemona for him. Although Iago knows he will never win her over, he uses him the entire play to get closer to restating his position to which he was previously fired.   Moreover, Iago convinces Roderigo that Cassio is after Desdemona. Acting furiously without thinking, Roderigo kills Cassio in hope to finally claim his love. To prevail maybe one can justify but to kill and for completely unjustifiable reasons shows Roderigo’s mindset; I have to have Desdemona and I won’t stop until I am with her. In the end, everyone ends up dead except for Iago who was the plans and brains behind the whole “game”. Although Iago didn’t get back his title, he used everyone; the nice guy, Roderigo, whom only wanted love, was the one who got burnt the worst. Roderigo gave people trust and they abused it till no end. The characters use him to their advantage and play him like a puppet for personal gain. Roderigo had to know that most people in his times and possibly still today are when it comes down to it going to look after themselves.   If one were to put morality aside, as the characters did, the liar and cheater usually have an upper hand in the situation.
