“Rollercoaster of Emotions”
It was a hot summer day in downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. We were getting ready to go to a family festival called “The River Front Festival.” Every year the whole family would attend to this event; it has been a family tradition ever since we moved from Puerto Rico. As we all know, these kinds of festivals are great fun for the whole family, especially if you have little ones like I do. I have a three year old son and a four year old who love these kinds of festivals. Family fun day like this one has always been a joy for the whole family.
The festival was ten minutes walking distance from the house. For the entire ten minute walk my kids didn’t have a minute of silence. They were talking about the rides, the clowns and, of course, the food. They wanted to go to every ride and eat every sugary food existing at the festival. You could hear them like chipmunks in the back ground. The kids were eager to get into the rides and see the clowns, who, that with their bright colors and gigantic smiles made everyone feel like a child again. Getting closer we could see the balloons in the air and we were able to hear the music of the celebration. The place was packed; it was a huge crowd of people resembled a giant ant farm. The place was bursting with color, laughs and joy. We saw our favorite, the game tents. We found this particular one, where the prize happened to be a gold fish in a bowl. These fish were so cute and plump, they looked like gum drops with fins. The kids went crazy for them, choosing names for the little orangey friend that I hadn’t even won. Well, I was up to the challenge, and after the third try I finally won. The small, orangey, bug eyed fish became part of our family, and a memorable moment for my kids and me. So far everything was going well. The kids were having a blast and it was time to go to the train ride. My four year old son, Jose, was looking forward to get into that ride all afternoon,...
