Ideology
Ideology is defined as a closely organized system of beliefs, values, and ideas forming the basis of a social, economic, or political philosophy or program. I can label myself as a Liberal person. I prefer the Democratic Party over the Republican Party and I want change. Liberalists want change and are unhappy with the way things are. Although I already knew these things about myself, taking the ideology quizzes better opened my eyes to this and confirmed what I already knew.
As I previously stated, I was not surprised with the results from my surveys. They confirmed what I already knew and supported the fact that had I been eligible to vote in the 2008 election, my vote would have been for Senator Barrack Obama. My results correlated with one another, they both favored liberalism and also the Democratic Party. My mother also took one of the surveys and achieved the same results as myself. Our percentages were very close in numbers and we obviously share the same ideology. The fact that our results were so similar does not surprise me because my mother and I share a lot of the same political views and we never find ourselves with different political opinions.
The survey that I believe was the most valid was the “How Liberal or Conservative Are You?” survey. Overall I was eighty percent Liberal and twenty percent Conservative. When it came to Social Issues I was seventy-five percent Liberal and when it came to Ethics I was also seventy-five percent Liberal. I believe that these results are most valid because I feel that I am very liberal when it comes to those issues and problems.
I think that today the terms liberal and conservative mean either you want change or you’re happy with the way things are. I think you are either or and that there is nothing in between. People tend to be more liberal than conservative especially with the shape the economy is in and the way our government is being run. I also believe that...
