A person who has influenced my life has been my uncle. This uncle of mine, I do not see him very often, even though, he has still been a highlight in my life. He is a childhood friend of my father, and a great uncle of mine. He actually never went to college; instead he dropped out after high school and started learning and working from the get go. Due to his determination he became the top man for Siemens branch in Mexico. This was all done without a college application; he did tell me though, that he wished he had gone to college to further advance his knowledge. This he did years later after realizing he still had much to learn. On trips with him, I always overheard his conversations about the economy, real estate and other business manners. Later on I asked him about stocks, owning land, opening businesses, etc. This man had his hand dipped in every market, anything that could provide him a profit. He was smart and perseverant which just opened my mind to all possibilities. Honestly, I really was worried about how and what I was going to do in my life, business-wise. His lessons have really resonated with me; I mean it’s like learning from a Steve Jobs kind of person, who succeeded even though various odds were against him. My dad has also learned a lot from him, and because of this, I believe my father was even more successful in his business endeavors. My uncle later had me go to his office and show me what it exactly he did. He traded land, stocks, opened restaurants, etc. Although I did not understand everything, he had me playing stock market games; he told me he would pay me real money depending on how the stocks went in the game. He always had a way of motivating me. This other time he put me in charge of deciding a price on one of his items, for real. I was to decide the price on one of his cell phones, I was about 15 years old and took the job of an adult to determine the price of an item, and this was truly overwhelming.
