My family has always put an emphasis on success. Be it in athletics, academics, anything, my mom and dad have always pushed me to establish myself at the top. This is why I am applying to Northwestern University. I firmly plan on staying in Chicago after graduation and it is known that Northwestern graduates continually find themselves at the top as the elite in any realm. When a list of undergraduates includes our governor and the owner of the world Champion Chicago Bulls and White Sox, there is something to be said about producing excellent results. Furthermore, when expanded to include graduate and law school, Northwestern has produced one presidential nominee, one Supreme Court justice, two representatives to the United Nations, and soon-to-be Chief of Staff to the President. Clearly Northwestern University has produced some of the best and brightest in recent history and I hope it can help me achieve such greatness.
In all honesty, I know that I want to enroll in the McCormick School of Engineering, but I do not know what to do with that degree. I was drawn to Northwestern when I looked at the list of notable alumni from the McCormick School of Engineering and saw a wide variety of professionals involved in all sorts of fields. The list ranges from CEOs to baseball players, and whereas I doubt that I will enter the draft for the MLB, I do see that taking engineering classes at Northwestern University helps mold and shape individuals until they find their niche, and that is very appealing to me.
As I mentioned, I do not know what the future holds for me, but I do know that I will embrace and utilize all that Northwestern has to offer. I fully plan to take on a co-op in order to get real experience in engineering. Northwestern is regarded as one of the top academic institutions in the world and I want to be a part of that community to help me develop and grow on more than just an academic level, but on a social and emotional...
