Isabella LaBianca English 2H, 5th Mrs. Miller Dead Poets Society “Dead Poets’Society”: IDK In the film, Dead Poets Society, Peter Weir illustrates the romantic elements of nonconformity and nature. As the film opens, Todd Anderson, a shy and lonely teenager, under pressure from his parents to succeed like his brother, arrives for the new semester at Welton Academy. He sees a different side to this strict school after the first day of English class with the new teacher, Mr. Keating. His first words of wisdom, perhaps the most important, to the boys are in his first lesson: “Carpe Dium lads! Seize the day!

My mom let us go to school in Hardin until winter break. The last day I got to go to school at Hardin Central started off like a normal day until I started to turn in all of my books, then everything became a reality. Come lunch time I sat down with my friends and we were just talking and laughing like always. That day my real dad came to school to pick me up because I
It was a pass or fail credit that determined if a senior would walk across stage to receive their diploma. Knowing that I had to write a five page paper without flaws was bad enough but to give a ten minute speech without stuttering. Sound like enough stress yet? Try finding a physical project to put ten hours that has the same theme as your paper. It was my junior English teacher, Ms. Brown that helped me step by step through my paper.
Since eighth grade I never really took anything the ConnCAP staff said to me seriously; it took me seventeen years to actually understand and realize how important college is and how important having a good education is. They have helped me in many ways by engaging me in meaningful learning experiences for the purpose of enhancing my basic skills and critical thinking. From grades eighth-twelfth, I’ve attended a ConnCAP Summer program for six weeks each summer. This has helped me improve my chances of competing in an advanced society by offering enrichment classes in the areas of math, science and English. During those six weeks I worked on material that helped me get ready for the next grade.
It gives us a chance to express what we might like to do or something we enjoy. But Gatto has the nerve to imply that public schools diminish creativity. I remember in 4th grade my English teacher gave us a paper on what we would like our future home to look like. She said, "be creative" while going about your paper. Now a freshman in college, teachers still praise me to use in (as well as students in my classes) in school projects, essays, and artwork to be as creative as possible.
During the end of the first day of sophomore year I remember walking into the room "eight-zero-one" at my high school and thinking "why would the counselors give me a chorus class?" I didn't think of myself as a singer. I mean, playing piano for twelve year has been a great experience and I have always strived to achieve excellence in all classes, activities and groups to which I belong; but singing? I can only remember singing in the shower and occasionally to my dogs. As I took a seat, the chorus direction, Ms. Morrow, introduced herself and began to teach us how to read music.
Basically it was important to write essays in high school. At the beginning of freshman year, freshmen were not required to read books over the summer. Since my brother attended the same high school I was going into, my mother already
I decided to meet with him to figure out the cause. He told me that he was behind on the material and therefore he couldn’t keep up with his classmates. I have figured out a way to fix this problem. During Math, I have made up different centers with the students. The students are grouped into a center based on their learning abilities.
On the paper had all my class assignments, quizzes and tests I had done last quarter. All of that, along with my big, fat, ugly D that I was pretty ashamed of. “Krystal, you’re a very bright student and I know you know the work, so why the sudden downfall?” Mr. D asked, as we both stared at the paper. Honestly, I didn’t know what to say. I wasn’t going to tell him that last semester I felt as if all he did was deposit information to this container of mine.
