Anti Terrorist Legislation in Canada

Anti terrorist legislation came into force in Ottawa, December 24th, 2001; it creates measures to identify, prosecute, convict and punish terrorist groups. Anti terrorist legislation also ensures that Canadian values of respect and fairness are preserved and the root causes of hatred are addressed through stronger laws against hate crimes and propaganda. Anti terrorist legislation is a very necessary case of Anti terrorist legislation in Canada because it will help if not put an end to terrorism in Canada but to put a large cap on it making terrorism a much smaller worry within the country of Canada. Anti terrorist legislation is seen to be a very dismal source of protection to the country. This is simply because the Canadian government does not spend as much time as most other countries do trying to reduce terrorism. There are a few forms of precautions Canada has started to take, such as Racial Profiling. Will specific racial groups take offence to the Anti terrorist legislation, due to the type of treatment they may receive from some people because of the Anti Terrorist Legislation? Anti Terrorist Legislation prosecutes one group of people such as Muslims, more then other groups of people. "Racial profiling is both reasonable and necessary for the government if it is to protect Canadians from terrorist threats in the future."
Canada’s approach to anti terrorism is a very slow moving procedure, but it stands firm. Some evidence of Canada’s involvement with anti terrorism could be when former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien established the “Ad Hoc Cabinet Committee on Public Security and Anti-Terrorism”. Ways that can help Canadian government could have to do with policies, legislation, regulations and programs across the Government to strengthen all aspects of Canada's approach to fighting terrorism and ensuring public security.
