Caribbean has evolved from a gritty rhythmic innovation against social and political injustice to a pleasant sappy background music which was smooth enough to accompany commercials. However, this too, was changed; many modern popular music embodies crime and violence, reference to women in a derogatory manner and physical and sexual immorality.
  Young people are more interested in attending adult parties rather than youth rallies or concerts. “Is this a sign that our children are “force ripe” or am I exaggerating?  
I must highlight, however, that not all modern day songs are deculturzing or exposing youth to violent behaviour, in fact, many are educational, as positive individuals are also messengers, but “ How many individuals idolize, say……. An Etana or Beres Hammond?” or are even aware of artiste, with such names? A handful if so many. Play the rhythm of ‘R*ompin shop’ *and the entire school joins in. This is the type of power theses songs have on our youth today.  
* Modern day music and dance, is thought to have trickled down to a rather* distasteful gravy. Young people form rivals and gangs to debate their clique of musicians preferred. If you share opposite views, you may be met with threats or even physical abuse.  
* A very popular rivalry in Jamaica is the ‘Gully, Gaza feud’. These are not so much in the world of dance. However, a budding young lady lost her life, in a recent incident performing the ‘dutty wine’. Many have been hospitalized after attempting the ‘hot wuk’. All these individuals were young people influenced by* these songs and development in dance moves.
