I selected the specialty baker business plan for Morningstar Bakery. The bakery will produce organic baked goods that are gluten, wheat, and dairy free. The product will be produced using a spelt grain. Spelt is a species of grain related to wheat. The seed itself looks like a grain of wheat, only quite a bit larger. Spelt contains a broader spectrum of nutrients than regular wheat. It does contain gluten, but seems to cause less allergic reactions in some people who are intolerant of wheat.
The strengths associated with the planned business venture; it will have four experienced personnel on the management team. Two of the management team has 15 years baking experience combined. The other two have experience in certified public accounting and public relations. The business model has been researched and well developed. The venture aims at satisfying the customers need for an allergy free product, as well as dieting customers who are looking for a product that has more nutritional value. The marketing segments have been accurately identified and targeted. The venture targets three distinct groups of clientele; allergy, doctor, and dieting. The venture has a person who operated their own marketing firm and has knowledge in marketing. The operations and materials management systems in place appear to be efficient with the principal owner being in charge of operations and the assistant baker in charge of maintaining and ordering materials. This system should be adequate for the size of the business.
There are weaknesses such as; brochures will be the primary advertising strategy for the first three months. Some other form of media advertising should be used in conjunction with the brochures. The business plan does not show enough capital to keep it running for six months to a year. The plan relies on projected profit margins with no backup capital.
