Saves the Day!
Cancer. The first thing people think of when they hear that word is death. I chose to be an
oncologist because I hope to help people understand that cancer does not mean just death.
Cancer means strength and hope. If they understand this then they will not be so scared to face
this disease. I also chose being an oncologist because almost every person in my family has had
cancer and has survived. I hope to help other people survive and live long full lives. The most
interesting discovery I found was how many people are saved from dying of cancer by an
oncologist. I had a lot of problems for this paper. There was not a whole lot of sources for an
oncologist. Every source was the same, it did not give me new information on this career. For
this paper I went down to the career center at school and looked up an oncologist on my EDP, I
interviewed Doctor Onwuzurike from Hurley Medical Center and found out that there is so much
more to being an oncologist than I thought. I also searched on google for the rest of my sources.
Treating and diagnosing is the main jobs of an oncologist. An oncologist will recommend
that you go through some tests to see how bad the cancer is. If the tests come back positive the
oncologist will recommend a type of treatment depending on the location of the cancer and many
other factors (careercruising.com). Just like Doctor Onwuzurike, oncologist may also help
medical students, and clinical research for professional advancement. Oncologists strive to find
the cure for cancer. Their job is very important to everyone since cancer kills more people than
any other disease.
