Career Essay
Nurse practitioner
My career goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I chose this career because the welcoming environment of a doctor’s and nurses’ office. The goal at work places like hospitals is to better other people. I believe this job is best for me because of my ability to work well with others, my willingness to help, and my determination to make a difference.
The first step to becoming a NP is to graduate high school receiving a diploma. After you have finished high school it is then necessary to earn a nursing degree. You can acquire either an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or a diploma to practice in the nursing field. The next step to become closer to my goal is attaining a master’s degree, which is mandatory in most states to further up the totem pole of nursing. Next, I have to become a licensed nurse which is mandatory in ALL states. I also have to take the NCLEX-RN exam. The last step to achieving the education for my goal is applying for a nursing certificate. After high school, I will attend The University of Georgia for sex years and will receive a master’s degree. While meeting the mandatory requirements I will perfect my skills to better my career.
While working as a NP I will be able to fulfill many duties. A few of them are diagnosing and treating a wide range of illnesses. Some examples are chronic diseases, infections, and medical conditions. Other duties of a nurse practitioner are to obtain patient medical histories, perform physician examinations, and I may also be able to perform minor in-office surgical procedures. I think the easiest part of being a NP is getting the job because of the high demand for medical staff. I believe the hardest part of my career would be dealing with people who die while I am their physician. Places of employment range widely from an independent practice building, clinics, and hospitals. After graduation, I hope to work at the Publix...
