Too late to prevent
It is always easy to talk and give advices after the war is over. If anyone in this world could have prevented McCandless death it was mostly himself. There are several factors that could have helped him not to end up in this situation. If he would have had a good and sincere relationship with his parents, if he would have been more prepared for that trip, and got rid of some pride and stubbornness probably he could have probably be alive today. But, unfortunately none of this happened. If Chris would have not been influenced by his life circumstances perhaps it had not been necessary to talk about this tragedy today.
The primary factor that could have prevented his tragic end was the relationship with his parents. He should have been able to forgive his parents and leave their mistakes behind. Chris knew that no one is perfect, and he was even able to accept and forgive the mistakes of his literary heroes, Jack London and Tolstoy, but he was not able to forgive his own parents. If he had been able to look at his father at least from the same perspective that he looked at his heroes, he would not have seen him as a hypocrite. But, it seems that Chris did not hold everyone to the same standards, or probably he had greater expectation from his parent
This tragedy could have been avoided by his parents, which sadly were too busy with their business. They were too materialistic and expected the same from their children. Actually this bothered Chris who did not have the same aspirations as his parents. Contrarily he wanted to help the poor; he had great compassion and empathy for homeless, and for the starving people in third world countries. Besides the fact that he did not get enough attention from his parents, he was also grieved by his father hypocrisy, which determined Chris to become an introverted person as stated by his sister: “He’d keep it to himself, harboring his resentment,...
