Introduction
An interview was conducted with the client to determine relevant information that would help in making a recommendation for the right career choice.
The client is looking for an exciting job opportunity that offers a great deal of job security as well as excellent pay and benefits in the field of computer science. The key to finding the perfect computer science career is to narrow the individual specialties down to the ones that are the fastest-growing, will allow room for growth in that career and, of course, have the best salary statistics. With this in mind, the client has expressed interest in two positions that are similar in that they both help to use technology efficiently and effectively. The two positions chosen are:
Systems Administrator: “Systems Administrators are responsible for maintaining the computer systems of a company. Server management is a primary responsibility, and a Systems Administrator would be responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading servers. They are also responsible for ensuring the servers are backed up, and that the server data is secure from unauthorized access. System administrators will also often perform light programming (usually scripting, which involves writing programs to automate tasks)” (Niznik, J, 2009, para.1).
And
Systems Analyst: A computer systems analyst helps a company or other organization use computer technology effectively and efficiently. He or she incorporates new technology into a company's current system” (McKay, D., 2009, para.1).
This report will provide clear direction to the client as to which of the two positions selected would be most advantageous and satisfying as a career choice.
