Sport should be made compulsory in all schools. When you play sport concentrate better, you work harder, feel better about yourself, get fitter and you get healthier. Physical activity is important to a child’s overall well being. one out of three kids are now considered overweight or obese. Many kids are spending less time exercising and more time in front of the TV, computer, or videogame console. Obesity increases the risk for serious health conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol — all once considered exclusively adult diseases. Young children need to do more physical activity in they daily lives. By making sport a compulsory part of the schools curriculum, most experts would agree that we can help overweight kids and to prevent other kids from becoming over weight. Children develop self-esteem and confidence while playing sport. They learn to get along with others, and to teach them how do win or lose with acceptance. These values are learnt by playing sport in school, it is a lot harder to learn how to be a team player in the work force. Students who play sport are usually more friendly to others as well. Children who are confident and friendly make more life long friends which makes school more enjoyable for the child. On the other hand sport should not be made compulsory in schools because it takes up valuable time for our more important, core subjects like maths, english and science. Also doing school sport will discourage the child to do sport outside school. School sport should not be compulsory because it restricts the child’s choice of what he or she would like to do. As well doing school sport can do the child also of damage. If the child was playing soccer (one of the most popular sport in Australia) she/he could risk being hit by the ball, falling or contact with other players which can lead to serious
