Capital Punishment

Capital punishment is exerted by government. It causes many killing issues which are bad for us. So I think that it is wrong and needs to be banned.
First of all, I believe that it’s wrong to kill. Human beings should not kill human beings. That is too cruel even if our government does the killing. Even if a criminal has committed horrible crimes, our government should not execute him or her. Why? All the things in the world are related. For example, if a poisonous snake lay still on the road-side, and someone goes to disturb it, and the snake will bite that person, he/she will die from the poison. This theory is also fit to capital punishment to the criminals. If our government executes the criminal, the criminal’s family or friends would get revenge on the government with terror attacks. Then government executes the family or friends, and these people’s friends, and these people’s friends or family would seek revenge on the government as before. The cycle of killing between government and criminals would be constant, without being resolved.
Second, capital punishment can not stop crimes. When people commit a violent crime, such as murder, they are not thinking about their punishment. In fact, many murders happen when people are angry. These angry people are not thinking about the consequences of their actions. As reported in New York Times recently, a two-year-old girl was sexually abused by her neighbor without self-control when he found out, he reacted angrily. At the same time, another article in New York Times show us that the


criminal rates still rises even if our government use capital punishment. In the state of Louisiana, the local government executed eight men in nine weeks in the fall of 1987. During that same time period the murder rate in New Orleans rose 16.4 percent.
The third and most important reason for abolishing the death penalty is that the government sometimes makes mistakes and executes innocent people. In...
