I decided to do my interview on a gentleman who had experienced incarceration at a young age. I came up with this idea after discussing the topic with him in private. I have put the interviewee into a comfortable environment so that he is himself and does not become intimidated by the camera and lights.

I’m going to try and diminish as much shadow as I possibly can but the area in which the interview is going to happen in is fairly dark and enclosed. I’m planning on setting the scene up and having Ryan and myself sit in position and kind of rehearse how he should speak and feel. I want to get him used to being in front of the camera and lights.
I’m going to ask him a few questions to give him a hang of what direction the interview will be going. I will probably talk to him in front of the camera for several minutes so that he forgets that it is even there. The questions I plan on asking Ryan include; “What kind of food did they serve?” “What kind of clothing was offered?” “What jail did you attend?” etc. I’m hoping to get enough answers out of him that he is willing to share to make the interview rather lengthy.

As far as angles go: I will take a few from over my shoulder, over his shoulder and close ups. Many of the shots will probably be medium shots so that the both of us can fit into the picture.

The setting will most likely be in a comfortable television room type area. There are many dark colours in the background hence the many shadows once light is involved.

I’m choosing to sit slightly taller then he will just to visually announce that I am the one conducting the interview.
