On Friday, April 25th, I entered the yoga studio not knowing what to expect, it was like going to a new school. I was hoping that the instructor would be kind and soft spoken. For some reason a nice voice helps me to stay relaxed in situations like this. I thought to myself and asked, “How did I get myself into this?”. The thought of meeting new people that share the same interest was pretty cool. I checked my coat and bag at the front reception desk.I decided to keep my flip flops and cool new yoga mat that I had purchased just for the occasion. Looking around and wandering around the center, I found the elevator and in the elevator standing patiently was a woman wearing a somewhat yoga outfit holding her mat on her shoulders. I looked at my mat and thought darn I should’ve bought a mat that could be carried on my shoulder. So I followed behind her hoping she would lead me right to the yoga studio. Whoa!! I couldn’t believe how peaceful it made me feel. It was huge, for the most part, and there were candles lit in the corners of the room. I didn’t know this yoga studio would be so amazing, the décor and the ambiance was exuberant.

I was ready to get started with the positions and excercises. I wasn’t sure if the class had begun because I was 20 minutes early and people were already doing cat-cow pose. I wondered who was the instructor and where did she find these modern chic candles. I wished that I’d brought a friend to share this experience but I guess they will just have to read this experience. Yes! The instructor walked in and her mat was already in place at the front of the room by the windows. She pulled the blinds open to let some light in the room I suppose. My stomach was filled with butterflies because I didn’t know what to expect I mean here I am in this fancy studio with grown adults dressed to yoga perfection.
