Macbeth is a great example of a tragic hero. Macbeth went crazy due to a lot of reasons but I choose to talk about three. I chose to talk about his wife Lady Macbeth, the three witches and their prophecies, and his greed of power. As the story progresses Macbeth pretty much loses his mind believing that he is unstoppable until the end where his head is cut off.
I think Lady Macbeth was a great contributor to Macbeth’s actions. At first Lady Macbeth was shown as a gentle character. But then after the prophecies she wanted Duncan dead. She couldn’t do it herself because I think he reminded her of her father. So it was her idea to have Macbeth kill Duncan. After Macbeth killed Duncan, he realizes his wrong doing.
The prophecies also was a big contribution. If it wasn’t for them telling Macbeth he would be some great leader, he would still be a normal character. But that would make the story boring. The prophecies made Macbeth wonder how can he possibly become the thane of Scotland. As the story goes on, Macbeth starts to base all his decisions on the prophecies. Then as he follows those prophecies his mind starts to corrupt.
Macbeth's greed of power led to his craziness. Even though it wasn’t enough to kill Duncan, if not for Lady Macbeth, he wouldn’t be able to do it. This goes back to Lady Macbeth because she’s the one who gave Macbeth the ambition to do all the murders he caused. Due to that new ambition, he grew to become psycho with the crave of power, which led to the killing of Duncan and becoming the thane of Scotland.
In conclusion, the prophecies given to him by the witches, Lady
Macbeth's influence, and his crazy ambition, all
led to his mental breakdown of his character which led to his head being chopped off. Therefore Macbeth is a tragic hero.
