Who would want to spend 6 hours in a hot greasy kitchen? I did. My job is to cook food at hutch’s café. I cooked food all summer and winter long. I have greasy clothes to prove it. Cooking at hutchs is a fun experience and a good responsibility to learn. To begin getting prepared you need to do the following:
First, in the morning when you first come in you have to have the breakfast ready to serve at 9:00. I take 2 egg cartons from the walk in and get them out, because the customers eat a lot of eggs during breakfast. The second thing that I always do is get all the meat products out, so they can get thawed out on time. The meats include, ham, sausage, patties, and the breakfast steaks. When I get all that done I am ready to serve breakfast.
Second, when I have a break from cooking breakfast, it is easy fro me to get lunch prepared. I need to get the specials up and ready real fast. When noon hour hits, a lot of people get the specials so I need to have a bunch of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, and vegetables. It is the easiest for me too cook the roast because I just grab it out of the freezer and throw it in the oven. When I get the mashed potatoes and gravy ready, I just combine the potato mix with water and stir them up until they are nice. The gravy is the same way. Now I am ready to serve lunch.
Lastly, at 1:45 I take all the specials down and clean the grill. I have to get all the pans washed and cleaned on time for the next employees to come in. They also have to cook specials and get all the meat products out and ready. Then after everything is cleaned up I just wait for the other workers to come in at 2:00.
I really enjoy cooking and getting stuff arranged and ready to go in the morning. Sometimes I get bored when I cook so I have fun while doing it. Here are some things that I do to keep it fun.
