Nursing-sensitive indicators have taken the forefront of quality measures and the definition of how quality of nursing care is evaluated in hospitals and out-patient care settings. These indicators allow nurses and administrators to evaluate how the care they are providing is following evidence-based practices, and how they may improve their practices toward better patient outcomes. The American Nurses Association has made steps forward in promoting these indicators as the definitive standards for patient care and quality improvement. This paper will evaluate how nursing-sensitive indicators could have assisted the staff in taking care of a patient, Mr. J, how nursing-sensitive indicators can advance quality care practices, and evaluate the ethical considerations and solutions to the problems encountered in Mr. J’s care. In the care of the patient Mr. J, utilizing nursing-sensitive indicators could have greatly assisted the nurses and aids in identifying issues that may interfere with patient care and cause negative patient outcomes.
I agree with the reductions in costs, even in a medical error. I liked the way they conducted the research and how they handled their findings, yet when they found that EMRs did not really prevent medical errors and to not increase patient safety, I had to disagree. If an EMR is correctly formatted and records are kept precisely and consistently, then the safety of a patient would have to increase. EMRs keep track of medication allergies, mental disorders, chronic illnesses, current and pat medications and procedures, all this would be a tool to correctly prescribe, treat and care for a patient, reducing medical errors just by having knowledge of their

I think it really is amazing how they have so many statistics on sexual and reproductive health. I think this article has really brought to light a lot of things I wouldn’t know if I hadn’t read this essay. I think that if more people were aware of these statistics it would help lower some of these because a lot of these numbers are ridiculously high. I also think the following article on young men’s sexual and reproductive health was very informative. I think it is great to see that the use of condoms has jumped from 69% to 71% among 15-19 year olds.
Jessa Thomson Professor Stillwell USem 102 CTR 4 February 1, 2011 ToT CTR 4 Summary: This chapter in Trick or Treatment describes the pros and cons of herbal medicine. Many people resort to herbal medicine to treat their different ailments. But some of the treatments cause more harm than good. For example: St. John’s Wort can treat mild to moderate depression, but for someone with severe depression or a mental illness it does no good and could even make symptoms worse. Personal Statement: I liked the tables in the book that showed whether or not the herbs/ natural medicine were shown to have a good effect on what they were supposed to.
Patient satisfaction is important at the facility and using audits will allow the tool to determine how the patient is progressing with health. By using this type of data collection tool, staff will learn that patient satisfaction and comfort is important to the organization. This will implement their realization that the data collected is important accurate information. The types of information this tool is used to collect data are patient’s baseline and assessments during regular intervals of treatment. With the data, the audit can separate the patients having discomfort and pain from those satisfied patients to improve in areas needed to make sure that all patients are comfortable at the
Running head: Alarm Fatigue Improving Patient Outcomes: What is the best practice to combat alarm fatigue? TCC NUR273 Abstract With the advent of new technologies, comes a time to take a look at and revamp our current practices. Are we doing these interventions and protocols because that is the way that it has always been done since the beginning of time? Are our practices backed up by legitimate evidence? By using nursing research, best practices can be implemented in order to improve patient outcomes.
Meaningful Use Implications and Recommendations Meaningful Use Implications and Recommendations Quality of care improves every day through the advancement of electronic medical records (EMRs). To encourage the use of EMRs and increase patient safety, Medicare and Medicaid offer incentives to eligible professionals, hospitals, and critical access hospitals that act in accordance with meaningful use criteria. Based on the level of meaningful use reached, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) makes it suitable to receive incentives (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2012). Following is an overview of meaningful use, an analysis, and meaningful use recommendations. Overview of Meaningful Use Managing and documenting through health information technology (HIT) and electronic hospital records (EHRs) allow improvement in the quality of care that we provide each patient.
CBT has been validated and used across many cultures, and has been used successfully by community therapists following brief training in individual and group settings. CBT has been found to have a preventive role in some studies, but evidence for definitive recommendations is inadequate (Clinical Psychology, 2010). The effect of CBT has been mediated mostly by the change in maladaptive cognitive distortions associated with Post-traumatic stress disorder. The results suggest some optimism that CBT could be used effectively to reduce suicide behavior in PTSD
To accomplish this, the hospital looks at different tools and methodologies that will help the with the quality improvement in the hospital. Also, at the same time provide health care insurance that is satisfaction to the hospital employees that will keep them healthy. Dlugacz (2006, p. 74) suggests two possible methodologies that can help to improve the quality of the database design. These include the PDCA and Six Sigma methodologies. These, according to the author, can help analysts in the process of determining areas in need of improvement.
