I first heard about the supervised drug injection clinic in Vancouver on the TV. This show talked about how it gives people in Vancouver the opportunity to safely use needles. I understand that the point of having this clinic available to drug abusers is to lower the rate of HIV/ AIDS spread through the use of dirty needles. The clinic is also said to provide counseling for treatment and prevention. I do not believe that there should be a legal establishment such as think kind open.
I stand against this clinic very strongly. I believe Heroin is illegal for uncountable reasons. I was appalled to hear that a government was providing the public with Heroin. People who use heroin are not safe to be around the general public. The users of heroin are not in a stable mindset while under the influence and also when not under the influence. While feeling the effects of Heroin a person is not cognitive and not contributing to the wellbeing of any respectable community. There is also a danger when they are going through withdrawal of the drug. A addict will do saying it lightly anything to get the drug back into their system.
It is said that this clinic makes treatment and prevention councilors available to the users. I believe only a person can make the choice to give up an addiction. From watching the TV special the people whom were interviewed didn’t have much interest in seeking out the available councilors and or taking that process seriously. The users were just appreciative that there was somewhere they could cleanly get their fix in.
Statics in the studies taken form this clinic show a lower rate in the spread of HIV/AIDS in this community. I am very happy that such a deadly disease is being better controlled by this clinic and there for helping out the non-drug using population. But I think a better way for controlling this would be to get more authority involved. I believe that we should be tracking these individuals who are...
