Using Machines as a more efficient form of exercise compared to traditional methods, has been debated for years. I believe there are more physical benefits to using traditional exercise methods compared to the use of machines. The high cost of the machines outweighs the benefits of its use and you can’t develop a strong work ethic with exercise machines. Lastly, the constant use of machines for exercise can be detrimental to your body.
I believe the traditional methods of exercise have many more physical benefits than the use of machines for exercise. Machines don't give you much variation. Most machines create a forced or guided two-dimensional movement pattern, so you are limited in how your muscles develop.(Dumay) while using Machine weights, muscles are isolated in certain positions, so the growth of muscles can slow down or stop all together. “Because of its isolation of muscles, your workout hit only the targeted muscles with little involvement of supporting or synergistic thus your muscle gains will be slower and less balanced.”(Kevin) Running is another form of exercise where people have resorted to relying on machines rather than running outdoors. The biggest con to using a treadmill for routine exercises is that calories are burned off at a much slower rate. If you run faster than 9 mph, you'll burn fewer calories on the treadmill. The difference can be up to 8 percent.(Quinn) these facts clearly state the disadvantages to using Machines over traditional exercising.
The high cost of exercise machines is another big disadvantage to relying on them instead of traditional methods of exercise. You could be spending easily in the region of $1000(Eaton) The Work ethic you build with traditional exercise is not applicable with the use of an exercise machine.
