The legalization of medical marijuana has been touchy subject to say the least. It has been a topic of discussion for many of years with mostly slim to none chance of being favored. However this subject is starting to have a more positive view as time goes by. This debate is not going to go away anytime soon, it has been proven to help many men and women who are in some sort of pain, and it should be viewed as a pain reliever in this situation instead of an evil drug. Many people have pre-conceived notions about this drug that are false and can be proven thorough studies and accounts.
Only fourteen states year to date have legalized medical marijuana. These states are allowing men and women to smoke marijuana, to aid them in various disabilities and pains that they may be having. Most people think of marijuana as a malicious and the users of it as “pot heads” or “stoners”, which is untrue, is a lot of cases. Those who use this plant to help them with chronic pain are average people just like you and me. They are men and women who have no other option to turn to in life other than the use of medical marijuana. “Like most Americans, people who smoke marijuana also pay taxes, love and support their families, and work to make a better life for their children” (legalizationofmarijuana.com). They are not “thugs” or bad people; they have just gone through the trials and tribulations of narcotic drugs that just don't seem to help. Now marijuana is viewed as a deadly drug that in actuality the annual American deaths caused by marijuana is zero (legalizationofmarijuana.com). Yes, marijuana can be abused but the only side effects are minor and mostly consist of drowsiness and lethargic behavior (legalizationofmarijuana.com). So it seems to be that this drug is not harmful to the body, but can be helpful in a decent amount of cases.
