A 1994 Massacre
I. Introduction
April 6th, 1994, Rwanda underwent a massacre that killed over an estimated amount of one million Hutu and Tutsi Africans. The genocide was under the command of the militia Interahamwe. The news of the mass murders spread to the television screens, leaving other surrounding countries in fear. The reason for the horror of 1994 is left solely to the Belgian’s attempts to colonize Rwanda into two head clashing ethnic groups and by those that published any footage on the media. Oppong and Woodruff wrote in their book, Democratic Republic of the Congo, “Hutu extremists murdering hundreds of thousands of Tutsis” (65).
II. Before the Disaster
Up until the point of Europeans invading Rwanda, the country was not divided. Upon their arrival colonization took over and split the country into the Hutu and Tutsis. The Tutsi’A 1994 Massacre
