30 Days Response

After viewing this episode of 30 days, I have seen what outsourcing has caused. Before the video, I thought that every job outsourced was one job lost, but I never really thought about the people it could be helping on the other side of the earth. My perception has changed about outsourcing since watching the video. I didn’t ever think about the people who were helped from outsourcing or why they needed the job so bad before. This video showed me both who benefits from outsourcing and why companies outsource.
There are both pros and cons of outsourcing businesses. Some pros are that it can free up time to build the business instead of having to concentrate on little tasks. Businesses cut costs because they can hire cheaper labor in other parts of the world. Since all of the workers are in a different country, there is no need to rent a gigantic building. The final benefit to outsourcing is that the business can be anywhere, because there is no need to have a building.
Just like every benefit, there are also cons. Some cons include that with different countries, comes different languages. That means that communicating could be a problem. Also, depending on how far away the jobs are outsourced may have a big time difference. The major con that everyone thinks of is the local economy. If the jobs are outsourced, the money is leaving the economy and not helping the local economy.
If I were a business owner, I would not want to outsource because I want to keep the money in the nation. I want to help the local economy more than people in different countries. That way, the money stays within the community and not going off to every corner of the world. I agree with Obama on the idea of outsourcing. He wants to end tax breaks on companies who outsource.
All in all, I believe outsourcing is wrong. Money should stay in the countries rather than leaving.
