Introduction
American Old West (also known as Far West, Old West or Wild West) is a term which relates to the history, geography, people and culture of life in the Western United States.It usually refers to the period of the later half of the 19th century, between the American Civil War and the end of the century. Territorially,American West is described as the area west of the Mississippi River (picture 1).First people who inhabited American West were, so called Indians.

Indianswere grouped in Tribes. Almost all tribes spoke different languages and there were more than 30 different language families. One of the
most famous is the Athapascan language family, which was spoken by the Navajo and Apache tribes. Communication between these tribes was not easy. Some tribes developed a hand sign language.
