Reflection Paper - Crash
Movie ‘Crash’ is a very emotional and revolves around different kinds of people we see around in the society. It is indeed very heart-breaking and reflects the racial controversies in human society. The movie is filled with coldness, hatred, pain and cruelty. The opening scene itself describes the idea of ‘traffic crash’, wherein a bunch of people are arguing over the aftermath of the crash. This also shows the crash of lives of different people coming from different backgrounds of the society. There is diversity of characters in the film that come across each other or ‘crash’ at each other. There is a collision between people, their attitudes, stereotypes, traditions.
The most touching and appreciating scene according to me is scene of ‘Young girl talking to her Dad about the fear, and she hides under the bed’. It is so beautiful when the Dad wraps an imaginary cloak around his daughter’s neck. You really get carried away with this scene and make you think about the safety of your own children. After seeing the movie one can relate his or her day-to-day experiences based on different scenes in the movie.
In big picture movie revolves around lives of black and white, poor and rich. Cultural diversity is another big aspect which cannot be neglected. In today’s world, racism is present in America, but at the same time it serves as a land of opportunity to many immigrants. The movie tells us, when we come across other people’s lives it brings in some kind of reactions, either negative or positive. There is intercultural diversity. There is prejudice, confrontations, and children at danger which seem to be the main pillars of the movie. It shows social changes and ethnic diversity is present in America.
