Gap Analysis Global Communications

Gap Analysis: Global Communications
Global Communications has seen a drastic drop in profits and stock prices in recent years. As a member of the over-represented telecommunications community, it has seen its market share divided and confidence in its industry reduced. It does; however, posses some of the brightest minds in the business, including CEO Katrina Heinz, who brought her experience in the European market to Global six months ago, and VP Sy Rodriguez, the twenty-year veteran of Global’s Consumer Marketing and Sales division. Together with long-time PR expert Joel Thompson and new VP Nancy Everhardt, they hope to turn around Global Communication’s fortunes through a two-pronged tactic of diversification and globalization.
Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Global Communications has been operating from a position of weakness. Due to an over saturated market, Wall Street has lost confidence in the telecommunications industry as a whole and Global Communications has seen a significant depreciation in its stock prices. The company has very little international presence and has been less than successful on what attempts it has made to enter those markets. Because of its long history in the marketplace, consumers may have pigeon holed Global Communications as a company offering only certain types of products and services.
To its advantage, Global Communications does have a strong core senior team, with a solid mix of personalities ranging from the long-term service and foundation ideas of Rodriguez and Thompson to the new blood and drive offered by Heinz and Everhardt. This core group has smartly realized the need to change the company with changing market conditions. Through their plans to enhance their alliances with other providers and outsource some of their existing services, Global Communications intends to live up to their company name as well as turn around the poor company performance.
