Capstone Project Proposal Packet: Educating Educators
Executive Summary
The era of Generation X has taken the world by storm. We have computers, internet, cell phones, and a host of programs used among each and everyone. Imagining there could be a problem with this doesn’t seem imaginable. However the number of teachers unable to perform at the same level as their students technologically is growing in numbers. This now makes the real question; how do we change this?
When introducing technology into any school district we must follow all policies and procedures set forth by that district. This usually means there will be several committees to review the proposed technology to see if it fits into the budget and timelines already in place.
Upon approval the committees will approve specific technologies to be implemented. Once the approval list goes out the teachers will be notified the stages of implementation and the tentative training schedule.
Where all new things eventually work out for the best there will be pitfalls in the road to overcome. A few of these include time constraints, funding, and resistance. The most problematic being resistance from educators not wanting to switch from directed teaching to interactive learning where the students have a role in the learning process.
Education Technology when used effectively can promote learning inside and outside the classroom. By following though with enhancing educators understanding of technology tools will increase the students understanding of the subject matter hence increasing long term retention.
